What’s Hot and What’s Not

By Matt Todd

I was lucky enough to find the time to visit the Kitchen, Bathroom and Bedroom show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham this month. Three of us headed over for the annual pilgrimage to find out what’s new in the industry and meet up with colleagues to “get the gossip” on what’s hot and what’s not.

First up we visited the excellent display stands that both Liebherr and Rangemaster had put together to show off their new refrigeration and range cooker designs respectively. Liebherr had some incredible kit on display that would be the envy of any household; think huge capacity and industrial cooling capacity with a price tag to match! Reassuringly they also have some fantastic products more suited to everyday use that showcase the company’s exceptional sustainability and efficiency credentials. Rangemaster were showing off their new line up of range cookers that have been re-designed from the ground up; that means larger capacity ovens, closer build tolerances and a new colour palette.

Moving over to bathrooms and we were wowed by the huge selection of shower walls now available. These waterproof wall coverings can take the place of tiles and, while they can give the look of a tile, they can give your bathroom the wow factor with huge jungle murals or marble replacements.

Finally, we spent the afternoon visiting our kitchen suppliers to find out what the trends will be for 2024 and it looks like more of the same with most kitchens falling broadly into two camps, either traditional shaker design or modern handle free (although we do have one design that has both!). New colours include quite a few pink shades and additions to the popular greens and blues of last year. Amazingly unpainted wood seems to be making a bit of a comeback with slatted wall panels set to feature in many homes this year.

Whatever the look you are thinking of for your next project, we can help make your dream a reality. Please pop into our showroom on Monks Cross or book in with Catilin for a free home visit to explore the possibilities. We’re on 01904 628676 or book in online at www.kitchens.htodd.co.uk.
