Nestled in the heart of York, Bill’s Restaurant offers a warm, inviting atmosphere and varied, flavour-packed menu. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel more than welcome, and the stylish, relaxed décor provided the ideal setting for a leisurely meal with the family.
We began our dining experience by sharing a selection of starters, each one beautifully presented and full of flavour. The calamari was perfectly cooked, with a light, crispy coating, accompanied by a delicious dipping sauce. The chicken wings were equally impressive, juicy, succulent, and coated in a rich, sticky glaze with just the right balance of sweet and spicy.
The halloumi was cooked to perfection, with a golden exterior and soft, salty centre – perfect for the vegetarians! Another standout starter was Bill’s Chicken & Sesame Dumplings, which were delicately wrapped and packed with flavour, served with a sumptuous savoury dipping sauce.
For our main courses, the Chargrilled Black Angus Sirloin Steak proved to be the highlight of the evening – it was tender, juicy, and cooked exactly as requested, and the accompanying sides completed the dish beautifully. The signature Santorini Salad provided a refreshing contrast, combining crisp vegetables, creamy feta, olives, and moreish Mediterranean flavours. It was light yet filling, showcasing the freshness of its ingredients perfectly.
The drinks menu was also impressive, featuring expertly prepared, visually stunning cocktails including all of the classics you might expect (think Mojitos and Margaritas), plus some unexpected options like the Strawberries & Cream Piña Colada. The beer was served perfectly chilled and paired well with the heartier dishes, while the milkshake was rich, creamy, and indulgent, with just the right amount of sweetness.
Despite already feeling full, we couldn’t resist ordering dessert, and we were certainly glad we did – it was the perfect ending to an exceptional meal!
For my money, what truly sets Bill’s Restaurant apart from its competitors is consistency across every aspect of the dining experience. From the quality of the food and the attentive service to the chilled-out atmosphere, this popular York eatery is the perfect place for casual lunches, family gatherings, or to celebrate any special occasion.
Overall, our visit to Bills Restaurant in York exceeded expectations. Every dish we sampled was prepared with care and attention to detail. We would happily return and could confidently recommend it to anyone visiting York.
