City Walls and Clifford’s Tower
What better place to start your daffodil tour than at these iconic city-centre locations. The city is carpeted, and the walls are coated, with the brilliant yellow flowers at this time of year. All you need do is wander anywhere in the city centre, from Walmgate Bar all the way to Clifford’s Tower—where last spring volunteers planted more than 100,000 bulbs— to be hit by wave-after-wave of spectacular daffs.
Goddard’s House and Gardens, Tadcaster Road, York
This iconic Arts and Crafts house was built back in the 1920s by the owners of the Terry’s chocolate factory. Close to the Knavesmire on the outskirts of York, its expertly-designed gardens boast a secluded space to wander amongst daffodil paradise, away from the hustle and bustle.
Moorlands Woodland Nature Reserve, Moor Lane, York
This enchanting seven-hectare woodland lies just to the North of York near Wigginton. The 1km circuit route is littered with countless pockets of brilliant canary-yellow daffodils at this time of year. Make sure to keep an eye out as you venture along this charming trail for a series of wooden sculptures and a fascinating range of British bird life.
