A new vocal workshop series brings leading guest artists to York
York singers are invited to take part in a new series of inspiring one-day workshops led by some of the most exciting vocal specialists working in the UK today. Created by York choir leader and musician Jon Hughes, who runs The Stonegate Singers and VoxBox Choir, York Vocal Collective offers a new programme of friendly, high-quality singing days designed to bring fresh energy, new musical experiences, and outstanding guest leaders to the city.
The first workshop, on Sunday 10 May, features Gitika Partington leading a dynamic pop a cappella day. Upcoming dates include Holly Taylor-Zuntz exploring the powerful sound-world of Georgian harmony, and Guillermo Rozenthuler, known internationally for his joyful and accessible work in circle singing and vocal improvisation. Across the wider series, singers will be able to experience a rich range of traditions and approaches, from world vocal music and improvisation to early music and close harmony.
The workshops are open to adult singers of all levels, and are especially suited to those who enjoy learning in a relaxed, welcoming way. The emphasis is on singing together, learning by ear, and enjoying the thrill of discovering new sounds with others.
Visit their website today to see the wide range of workshops they have to offer!
York Vocal Collective hopes to build a vibrant new hub for singers in the city and beyond…
