York Golf Range offers a variety of fun-filled activities for everyone to enjoy, no matter how advanced (or lacking) their golf skills may be!
On a sunny weekend this month, the Your Local Link team was lucky enough to try out some of York Golf Range’s most popular offerings for ourselves, and we’re pleased to say that they did not disappoint…
Located on Towthorpe Lane, just a stone’s throw from Stockton on the Forest Castle Hill and Piglets Adventure Farm, York Golf Range is known by local golf lovers as the home of one of, if not the best practice facilities in and around the York area. The picturesque and well-maintained site features an excellent 9-hole academy golf course, 6 outdoor driving ranges, and an 18-bay covered floodlit driving range. While these are probably best aimed at new, improving, or expert golfers, we set our sights on the activities that seemingly required as little golfing expertise as possible – in this case, these included Mini Golf and FootGolf!
The fun Mini Golf course included 12 holes, with a range of different obstacles to get around, including a ‘loop the loop’, a windmill and many winding tunnels. These tricky, often-infuriating challenges definitely brought out everyone’s competitive side. We’d never played Mini Golf before, but it’s certainly something we’d try again – hopefully with a bit more skill and success next time around!
FootGolf is certainly something you don’t see every day, but this fun blend of football and golf is ideal for both kids and adults alike – it’s also a great choice for those who’ve never handled a golf club, but are comfy booting a ball! This 9-hole FootGolf course ranges from 39-91 yards! We kept track of everyone’s score on the scorecard we received opon arrival, and added an extra competitive element by making the loser buy everyone an ice cream from the cafe at the end!
With its friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere and engaging activities, (we’re yet to try the driving ranges, but we’ll be back!) York Golf Range is well worth a shot – it’s a hole in one!
