On Thursday the 4th of May, local children’s charity, Lollipop will be hosting its second annual Deaf Service Fair during Deaf Awareness Week (2nd-8th May). As a charity that is dedicated to supporting children, young people, and families with deafness, Lollipop wants to spread awareness to the public of the fantastic services that are available.
Doubling in size since last year, the fair has attracted much interest from both stallholders and the deaf community alike. Stall holders this year include other local charities, such as Wilberforce Trust, York & District Deaf Society, York Inspirational Kids, Deaf CAMHS, Healthwatch, Sign Video Services, and much more.
Speaking of the benefits of attending the event, Lollipop’s Chair, Laura Walker said: “It is a privilege to be able to bring together such a wide variety of professional services in one place as a ‘one-stop shop’ for the deaf community to meet in person and to perhaps discover services that they didn’t know existed. The event is free to enter and open to the whole community of York during this Deaf Awareness Week”.”
The charity event is due to take place at Temple Hall, York St John University, between 9-8pm. For more information, please visit, www.lollipopyork.org.uk.
