Last month, changes to community and on-street car parking in the key areas of Bishopthorpe Road, East Parade (Heworth), Micklegate and The Groves were approved by City of York Council’s Executive.
The Minster Badge, which offers residents discounts on parking charges in council car parks and on-street parking bays, will now be subject to an annual charge of £15, a reduction from the current two-year charge of £45.
Minster Badge holders will also see a 20% increase in the discount allocated to them (from 30% to 50%) when making use of community parking areas.
Speaking to Your Local Link, Councillor Kate Ravilious, Executive Member for Transport, said: “These changes should certainly mean that those community areas work better for the residents who live there and the local businesses who operate there”.
