The Memory Tree Co unveil York’s first memorial woodland

The Memory Tree Co will shortly unveil York’s first dedicated Memorial Woodland, a place which can be an alternative forever for your deceased loved ones.

In a ground-breaking venture, new, local company ‘The Memory Tree Co’ is redefining the way we bid farewell to our loved ones with the upcoming opening of York’s first memorial woodland. Nestled on the outskirts of our historic city, the company have created a unique space.  Those using the service will plant a commemorative tree that they can watch grow and become part of the local landscape in the months and years after the tragic loss of a loved one. The new woodland promises a natural and unique way to honour and remember those we hold dear to us. Say goodbye to traditional burial grounds and step into a world where nature takes the lead, offering a place of solace and reflection amidst this dedicated memorial woodland.

In recent years, the ancient practice of woodland memorials has seen a resurgence in popularity. When individuals seek to place a more profound connection to nature at the heart of their memorial service, the planting of a memory tree makes perfect sense. Beyond serving as a resting place, a woodland memory tree symbolises a return to nature, providing a serene and eco-friendly alternative for bidding goodbye.

The Memory Tree Co. has carefully crafted this unique woodland experience, marking the beginning of a heartfelt journey that engages with and becomes a permanent living feature of the local community. With a commitment to providing a space that is both unique and meaningful, this woodland venture is also a place where local wildlife habitats can be re-established and  flourish again. The Memory Tree Co. have tastefully put together a list of native Yorkshire trees including Oak, Blackthorne, Alder, Silver Birch and more with the addition of some smaller tree and shrub species which are aimed at providing shelter and homes for wildlife.

The concept works by first deciding how you wish to part ways with your loved one’s ashes. You can choose a simple ashes burial which is in an eco-friendly, biodegradable box that is then planted in front of your chosen tree, and finished with a plaque. Or you could decide on an earth burial where you mix the ashes in with the soil where your chosen tree is planted. There are many ways to let your loved ones live on and the team at The Memory Tree Co. can help advise on the best fit for you.

The opening of the memorial woodland marks a significant milestone for The Memory Tree Co. as it plants its roots in the local community. This venture will encompass  the first of many heartfelt farewells in a woodland that promises a departure from the ordinary, embracing the unique and cherished memories of our loved ones.

Registrations are now open for Memory Trees at the new woodland site near York so if you would like to find out more information about it or you would like to register your interest for a Memory Tree you can visit www.thememorytreeco.co.uk.
