A big conversation about what adult social care should look like in the future has begun, and Yorkies are now invited to make a real difference by submitting their views and voices. Whether you currently receive care, provide unpaid care services to others, are a care worker, or are simply interested in helping to forge a positive future for the sector and its service users, your input and opinions are needed!
When launching The Big Conversation, Baroness Casey of Blackstock said: “I want people across England to help us face the hard questions about how we can build a National Care Service.”
The Big Conversation begins by asking the question: when we are old or disabled, or have a serious illness, who should support us, and how? Your responses will help to shape the Independent Commission’s recommendations, which are due to be shared next summer. Cllr Lucy Steels-Walshaw, Executive Member for Adult Social Care at City of York Council, said: “Everyone in York, from every perspective, can contribute by engaging honestly with the difficult questions that must be answered if we are to build the shared agreement needed for lasting reform.”
