Quality Street production returns after pandemic

After production was cut short in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Quality Street performance is back on stage at York Theatre Royal and is here until 20th May.

Featuring Coronation Street star, Paula Lane, this Yorkshire-based comedy tells the tale of school headteacher, Phoebe Throssel, who has been awaiting the return of her ex-lover from the Napoleon War. Only when he returns, he is disappointed to greet an older, less glamorous Phoebe. She decides to enchant the clueless Captain with her alter-ego, Miss Livvy. As their romance is rekindled, can she keep up appearances?

Laurie Sansom, director of Quality Street and Artistic Director / CEO of Northern Broadsides comments: “It was heartbreaking to have to abandon this production in 2020 when it was being enjoyed by so many. We are thrilled to be working with our wonderful partners at New Vic Theatre to bring it back to stages up and down the country with a fantastically playful company. They capture the wit and wisdom of J.M. Barrie’s delightfully comic creation, as well as the Halifax women who helped us make the original show. We can’t wait to get it back on the road.”

With a dose of Yorkshire wit, this hit Regency comedy is one to watch. To find out more information, or to book your tickets please visit https://www.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk/show/quality-street/.
