Our Big Transport Conversation — the City of York Council’s largest consultation with residents on planned changes to York’s transport since 2010— closes on the 4th of February.
The results of the consultation will be used to form a new Local Transport Plan that will reshape York’s transport network along 10 different policy areas. These include goals to improve wheelchair accessibility and reduce car dependency, alongside wider targets to safeguard the local environment.
This means that the next couple of weeks are the last opportunity for all residents — anyone who buses, walks, wheels, drives, or parks anywhere in York or the surrounding villages— to have a say. To make your voice heard, all you need to do is fill out an online survey at ourbigconversation.york.gov.uk or simply email your thoughts to ourbigconversation@york.gov.uk.
The impact of Council changes to accessibility can already be felt on the streets of York. As recently as the 4th of January, blue badge holders were allowed access to the city centre areas for the first time since 2021, through the sliding bollards at the junction of Goodramgate and Deangate.
