New scout group grows in popularity

Odin Explorers may have only opened in September but the scout group for 4-17 -year-olds have already amassed more than 20 members.

The lead volunteer set the group up because “there was a need to provide opportunities for young people.”

In order to keep up with the speed of their success, the coming weeks will see the current troop —as well as any newcomers— take on a Master-Bake-Chef-Off, movie night, ice skating and a District Explorer Camp.

The benefits of joining a scout explorers group expand even further than the remit of fun and games— a recent survey ran by the Scouts found that 83% of people believe the group provides young people with “skills for life”.
