The Potions Cauldron

The Potions Cauldron is located at 9 ¾ Shambles where the first known potion-maker, Phileas Fry, came to York in 1335 to help the sick and needy. Fast forward over 600 years and now the magical apothecary is once again selling potions and other magical gifts to its customers as well as  souvenirs.  ‘The Cauldron Experience’ takes place in the secret potion room at the back of the store where witches and wizards gather to learn the secrets of ‘The Potions Cauldron’ whilst enjoying a magical drink!

From the 19th of July, York’s most famous street; Shambles will become even more enchanting with the opening of The Potions Academy, a place of magical learning where the ancient craft of potion making is shared. The Potions Academy is the latest offering from the Potions Cauldron Group, the wonderful wizards that have brought you such bewitching brands including; The Potions Cauldron and The Hole In Wand. The York based magical drinks company are excited to launch this latest spellbinding brand. The Potions Academy will consist of two core elements; The Potions Class and The Broom School.

The Potions Class; a magical family experience, will be led by the Potion Master who will impart the wisdom of esteemed alchemist and wizard of the highest order, Phileas Fry. As well as learning the secrets of Fry, every graduating wizard and witch will receive their very own magical potion.

The Broom School will give witches and wizards the opportunity to fly across the historic city of York in the hope they escape the fire of the dragon’s breath and make it safely back to the academy. Each graduate from The Broom School will take away a video of their flight plus one of our potions as the perfect souvenirs.
