Horrifically Good Books scheduled to open this month

Are you a local bookworm seeking out a scary title or two to bring in the spooky season? This month, a new independent bookshop is set to open in York that’s sure to satisfy the cravings of even the most die-hard horror fans…

Created by Isla Coole, the mastermind behind the city’s crime fiction mecca, Criminally Good Books, Horrifically Good Books will open its physical store in a Grade I-listed building on Goodramgate by the end of October. Like its predecessor, Horrifically Good Books will stock a plethora of small press and indie titles, but this time, the focus is on all things horror! Book lovers will be able to choose from an extensive selection of titles in a wide range of horror and adjacent subgenres, including Gothic and classic horror, folk horror, historical horror, weird horror fiction and cosmic horror. The new store will also be a reliable stopping point for shoppers seeking out children’s and YA horror, as well as literature focused on ghosts, hauntings, and haunted houses.

On 23 October, Horrifically Good Books will hold a launch event at Merchant Adventurer’s Hall, ‘An Evening with Dom & Ink & Juno Dawson’. The new store be located at 60 Goodramgate, YO1 7LF.
