Can you help save New Earswick Swimming Pool, a much-loved local facility and charity, by supporting their ‘Buy a Tile’ appeal?
This much-loved community-run pool is in urgent need of modernisation. In the first phase of their redevelopment plans, they are aiming to raise £500,000 to replace the end-of-life, leaking roofs above the pool and changing rooms. Alongside this essential work, they hope to improve sustainability by installing insulation, solar panels and battery storage to reduce long-term energy costs.
The fundraising campaign forms part of wider plans to transform the pool and secure its future for the many swimmers and groups who use it every week. The project will help replace the pool roof, changing room roof and install solar panels and battery backup as part of the redevelopment plans.
So far, they have raised £206,000, and they are now asking the community to help them reach the next milestone by buying a virtual tile. The cost is:
• Individuals: £20 (bronze tile), £50 (silver), £100 (gold)
• Businesses: £200 (bronze), £500 (silver), £1,000 (gold)
As well as the virtual tile, supporters will also receive recognition on the donor wall once the redevelopment is complete, with additional benefits available for selected donation levels.
Every penny raised from tile sales goes directly towards the redevelopment appeal.
The pool provides a vital service to 18 local swim schools, charities and community groups who, for various reasons, cannot access local authority pools. They also put on what they believe to be York’s cheapest pay-as-you-go public swimming sessions, with free entry for children aged 11 or under.
With over 1,000 swimmers per week visiting the pool, it’s essential that it remains open and that they are able to generate the funding required to develop it for future generations.
Tiles can be purchased online or by cheque, and full details are available at:
