Originally founded in Chester in 2016, the acclaimed buffet chain Panda Mami first opened its York restaurant in 2018, offering a huge array of more than 160 delicious dishes, as well as an exciting live cooking station.
This month, my family and I were lucky enough to pay the York branch of Panda Mami a visit for a meal together, and we all found it a wonderful experience. When we arrived, the staff greeted us with friendly smiles and quickly showed us to our table. The restaurant has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, and although it was busy, it never felt too overcrowded or uncomfortable. Sitting around us, we noticed many families and groups enjoying themselves, which made the restaurant feel lively and inviting – seeing packed tables of happy diners is always a good sign!
For my money, one of the best things about Panda Mami is the huge variety of food available. The huge buffet includes Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai, Japanese, and British dishes, so there truly is something here to suit every taste. My family really enjoyed trying different meals, instead of being limited to just one type of cuisine. The food was fresh, hot, and regularly replenished, so there were always plenty of options to choose from. Even the pickiest eaters in our family found several dishes they loved.
The dessert section was another highlight of our visit. Our eyes were on stalks when we saw the excellent selection of cakes, pastries, ice cream, fresh fruit, and even a chocolate fountain (as you can imagine, this was especially popular with the children). Everyone enjoyed creating their own desserts, which made the meal even more memorable.
Throughout our visit, the restaurant remained clean and well organised. Staff regularly cleared away empty plates and were polite, attentive, and happy to help. Despite the number of customers, the service was efficient, and we never had to wait long for anything!
Overall, our visit to Panda Mami in York was an enjoyable family outing. The combination of delicious food, excellent variety, friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere made it a great dining experience. We felt the meal was good value for money, and we would happily return in the future. I would definitely recommend Panda Mami to anyone looking for a fun and satisfying family meal in York.
