ANOTHER new play area for young Yorkies!

The recent opening of the refurbished Crombie Avenue Play Area in Clifton, one of two new play areas opened in just one week along with Glen Gardens in Heworth, marks another big step forward for City of York Council’s Parks Investment Fund.

The Clifton site received a £65,000 investment in new play equipment for all ages and abilities, including swings, spinning equipment, a seesaw, a large climbing and play tower with slides, climbing nets, monkey bars and role-play elements, as well as an inclusive roundabout easily accessible to wheelchair users. The Crombie Avenue site has also seen the addition of an inclusive basket swing, accessible swing seats, and improved social seating areas. The opinions of local families helped to shape the plans.

Councillor Jenny Kent, Executive Member for Environment and Climate Emergency, said: “Good quality parks and play spaces are so important for children and families. This new play area provides modern, inclusive equipment that can be enjoyed by a wider range of children. We’re continuing to make our parks and green spaces across York fun, beautiful and welcoming to all through our Parks Investment Fund.”
