1. Acomb Afternoon Townswomen’s Guild 

Ladies, are you looking for a way to socialise and make new friends? You might want to join Acomb Afternoon Townswomen’s Guild! The group has monthly meetings and enjoy listening to speakers, supporting local good causes, going out to lunches and going on outings.

2. Growing Active 

Join Nadine from York St John University’s award-winning grounds team for a regular gardening session at Haxby Road Allotments. This autumn, the group will be planting winter crops such as purple sprouting broccoli and leeks and taking care of late summer pruning. 
This free allotment group is for people aged 50+ and runs on Wednesdays from 10-11am.

3. Take a walk on the wild side

Hiking in the beautiful ‘Great Outdoors’ doesn’t have to be intimidating. The Yorkie Talkies Walking Group are friendly, welcoming and on the lookout for new members.
Their walks explore the most beautiful parts of the north, as close as the gentle hills around Castle Howard and as far as the top of the mighty Tryfan in Snowdonia. They have a hike to suit everyone.
The YTWG team would love to welcome both new and seasoned walkers to the growing family.

4. Run York

Whether you’re a complete running novice or a regular runner, Run York puts on regular sessions across the city and are inviting new members to join them. The social and chatty group is a great place to help your fitness, mental health and meet new people. Groups are led by qualified Run Leaders and split into distances from 4 and 6 miles. 

The meetings are as follows:

Monday@ 6:30pm • Marriott Hotel front lawn, Tadcaster Road.

Tuesday @ 6:30pm Glen Gardens off East Parade near the Bowling green.

Thursday @ 7.00pm • Millennium Bridge on the Butcher Terrace (Bishopthorpe Rd) side.
