York’s family rave event ditches single-use plastic

York’s popular family rave-themed disco, which offers parents a chance to ‘rave’ with their children on a Sunday, has decided to take a more eco-conscious approach to their rave sessions.

In an effort to cut the environmental impact of their events, they will no longer sell single-use plastic.

The Ravin’ Rascals organisers said that they have become increasingly concerned about contributing to the UK’s huge amount of plastic waste. From now on, they will be offering a more sustainable alternative to single-use glow sticks.

The new LED glow sticks are powered by long-lasting, replaceable batteries, making them more sustainable. With multiple colour settings to choose from on each glow stick, they will be even more fun for ravers than the ones we have grown up with.

“We spent a lot of time trying to find something to recreate the exciting glow stick experience, without contributing to the 4.9 million tonnes of plastic we throw away every year in the UK,” says Ravin’ Rascals’ organiser Lyndon Nicholson. “Our new reusable glow sticks will keep the kids (and grown-ups!) raving for years to come.”

With classic anthems, smoke machines, children’s entertainers, UV paint, giant colouring-in and glitter face paints, their events have been jam-packed with former ravers showing their children how it’s done.

The next Ravin’ Rascals event is on Sunday the 26th of January at The Crescent in York. Tickets for the event are here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ravin-rascals-january-26th-tickets-85497446163?aff=press
