Antique Restoration of York’s Steve Popple is going to be gracing our screens this Christmas Eve on Channel Five.
That’s because he was tasked with a restoration project for Rob and Dave from Channel Five’s series, On The Farm.
But he can’t say too much yet: “It’s a very special project that I’m doing for Rob and Dave, I can’t tell you what it is and I can’t tell you why I’m doing it, yet.”
For the episode, Steve went over to Cannon Hall Farm and Rob came through to York
“Filming was very laid back, it was very much a chat between two blokes, it was nice to do. They’re down to earth, they’re nice, they’re very straightforward – there was no messing about.”
Up-cycling has become incredibly popular of late, but Steve and his colleagues at Antique Restoration have been doing this for a long time: “This new idea of up-cycling, we’ve been doing it for 30 years. That’s what we do.” And what’s more, it’s not as expensive as people might think: “I think it’s important that people get to see that we’re not actually colossally expensive. There is the assumption of ‘oh it’s antiques, it’s going to be expensive,’ it’s not – I don’t drive a Ferrari!”
