Unique things to do in York this Mother’s Day

If you’re looking to treat a mother figure in your life to a special Mother’s Day, and you’re stuck for inspiration, we wanted to fire a few suggestions your way. From going out for food to more adventurous outings, York has it all!

Paint some pottery together

Spend an arty day painting pottery. Not only is it something a little different, but it makes a lovely little keepsake of your day together. Bish Bash Pot and Rainbow Ceramics are two great suggestions, and you can find them in the centre of town.

Visit the Living North Fair

The Living North Fair is dedicated to all things lifestyle and brings bringing together shopping, crafts, and delicious locally sourced food for a great day out. Why not take a belated Mother’s Day trip and take the opportunity to browse the stalls of lots of lovely handmade gifts and sample delicious, local foods?

Have a picnic

If you want to do something different to taking your Mum out for brunch, why not head out to one of our local parks if you prefer to dine al fresco? Eat by the Ouse or have a walk in the Museum Gardens. Or, if you’re feeling particularly organised, why not arrange a special picnic hamper with No.1 Guest House, available to book seven days a week!

See a show

We’re so lucky in York to have the many arts venues that we do. Whether it’s the Barbican, live music at The Crescent, or a performance at The Grand Opera House or York Theatre Royal, there’s a whole host of performances to watch.

Take an outdoor adventure

If you’re looking to go a little further afield, how about an adventurous day outdoors? Perhaps you might like a beach trip to Whitby, a stroll through the beautiful grounds of Castle Howard, or even a wild adventure at Go Ape in Dalby forest for the more adventurous of mums…

However you choose to celebrate Mother’s Day….here’s wishing that special someone a wonderful time!
