The Bev Jones Musical Company are back with a bang

An award-winning musical production company will make their much anticipated return to York’s theatre scene this month.

Not disheartened by the obstacles caused by pandemics, the cost of living crisis and a major reduction in funding for creative industries, the Bev Jones Musical Company (BJMC) is exploding back onto the York scene. See them in action as they bring Guys and Dolls to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre — it runs from October the 18th until the 21st.

The company was founded by Bev Jones, the former Head Chorister to her majesty Elizabeth II, up until he tragically passed away in 2016. Ever since, his wife Lesley has proudly taken on the mantle, often dipping into her own pocket to keep the lights on and the shows running. She managed to keep this up until 2020, when theatre closures caused by COVID-19 lockdown almost proved fatal to the BJMC. Without regular show-going audiences, maintaining business became impossible. This year however, Lesley has taken it upon herself to revive the company once more.

She told us “After his [Bev Jones’] death in 2016, I was very keen to continue his work and company. I realise it is a big ask for our previous audiences to support us once again. But I recommend coming to see some of York’s finest performers in this slick, polished production”
