Summer at Castle Howard

By Chloe Long, work experience student.

The sun is out and the days are longer, so what’s better than getting out with the family to enjoy the many fantastic events that Castle Howard has to offer. Take advantage of the nice weather and explore through the 9,000 acres of history and beautiful scenery or if you fancy a more relaxed stroll out of the sun the 300 year old stately home may be more of an attraction.

Skelf Island Adventure Playground

Open daily (10am – 5pm), Castle Howards legendary Adventure Playground, received its name from the historic site it sits on: Henderskelfe. Up in the woodland canopy the rope bridges connect the treetop nests to play in with slides ranging from fun little escape shoots to steep drops for the more adventurous little explorers. Spider nets are found all across the park to climb anywhere and everywhere making it fun for everyone as there is no right path to take as you adventure through the trees.
