Social butterfly: September 2023

With York Environment Week at the end of this month here’s a few social media accounts you take a look at— to follow York’s fight against climate change.

THE GRAND HOTEL
This hotel proudly looks after approximately 40,000 bees, housing them on the roof! Considering the dwindling number of bees in the UK, it’s so important that effort is put in to help keep our local geography healthy. Follow them on Instagram @thegrandyork or Facebook @TheGrandYork.

EDIBLE YORK
This community-led organisation provide free fruit and vegetables to York residents, through a network of gardens across the city. It helps residents eat more healthily whilst simultaneously reducing York’s overall carbon footprint. Follow them on X @EdibleYork or Facebook @edibleyork.

FORESTRY ENGLAND
This national charity were instrumental in starting the York Community Woodland project, who have planted more than 85,000 trees in York. Follow them on X @ForestryEngland or Facebook @forestry.england.uk.

YORK ENVIRONMENT WEEK
Running from September 23rd up until October the 1st, the organisation will be promoting all kinds of events throughout the city, bridging green groups together and encouraging residents to get out and experience the beautiful landscapes of our home.
