Tracklements — the iconic English condiments brand, as featured in the bestselling cookbooks of Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith, are ready to conquer a new market. They’ve released a tantalising trident of hot sauces, all three of which should be a welcome addition to your panty, fridge and lunchbox. Here at Your Local Link we were lucky enough to try them all out — you won’t be surprised to hear the results were fiery.
The only place to start is from the top, with Tracklements’ fieriest offering — The Rocket Hot Sauce. It’s made from the spiciest Bird’s eye and Scotch bonnet chillies around and so inevitably packs a real punch — those of us who are a little more tentative with their chilli might want to take this one drop at a time. Once you get used to the Rocket you won’t be able to resist the deliciously moorish flavour — it has the potential to add an extra level of excitement to any meal, from curry to a burger.
Next we tasted the Siracaha sauce, a flavour we’re all more than used by now, however what makes this sauce stand out is Tracklements’ use of Fresno chillies, a much fruitier variety. This creates a more rounded taste than any siracaha we’d ever come across. To complete the trio came the ‘Smokin’ Chipotle Sauce’ — it replaces all-out fire with a combination of spice, sweetness and smokiness, all due to the inclusion of the chipotle chilli. Your mouth may not be on fire but its’ still a flavour to die for. While the weather’s warm later this week and we’re all enjoying the last barbecues of the year, we can’t recommend adding the smokey sweet sensation of this new sauce — it’ll make the flavour of those burgers, sausages and veggies explode like never before.
Each 150ml bottle is available from fine food delis and farm shops nationwide and online at www.tracklements.co.uk for £3.50 each.
