With the arrival of June comes the long-anticipated York Pride summer event, and it’s due to hit the city next weekend.
Returning to York for the first time since 2019, this exciting summer festival will start with the colourful York Pride Parade from York Minster to Knavesmire, which will see the participation of many charities, organisations and local individuals all coming together to support the LGBT+ community. From there, there will be plenty of music and entertainment including performances from Girls Aloud star, Nadine Coyle and Drag sensation, Divina de Campo at the site of York Racecourse. An after party in town for those wishing to carry on the celebrations is also due to be held.
Beyond the fun and festivities, this exciting event will focus on the visibility of the LGBT+ community in York, providing an opportunity to raise significant funds in support of LGBT+ issues. The day itself is free to attend but donations are welcome. Ahead of the event, the official 2022 York Pride Wristbands are currently available to purchase from the York Pride website. For just £5 you can buy these wristbands to support the charity directly, as well as access some great discounts and incentives from local businesses.
With preparations for next weekend already underway, this will certainly be a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together in support of a significant cause and of course, paint the town with plenty of colour!
