New website champions accessibility in York

There’s a new resource for people planning visits to York city centre.

The York Access Hub will make planning days out easy by bringing local businesses together with the disabled community and focussing on accessibility.
The website was created by Bill Clayton, who has been living with ME for 15 years: “I’ve run The York ME Community since being hit with ME 15 years ago. We now have 200 members from York, and it led me to putting this site together as I’ve learned about the struggles the disabled community have in accessing places they need to get to.”
“I’m working on it daily to get businesses on board and then upload the information so that any visitors to our lovely city have a one-stop-shop to plan their visit without worrying too much about how accessible certain places might be.”
The idea is simple, if you’re planning a visit to York, you can visit the York Access Hub and plan your day knowing about all the local pubs, cafes, hotels and attractions that are accessible for people living with disabilities.
