Lottery funding for lollipop

Lollipop, a local charity that aids deaf children, teenagers, and families, has received £285,000 in Lottery funds to carry on supporting the community within York for an additional three years.

Since its formation in 2004, Lollipop has provided free activities for deaf kids and teenagers across the region of North Yorkshire, including children of deaf adults (CODA).

Commenting on the fantastic news of further funding, the Chair of the charity, Laura Walker, said:
“This is such fantastic news, the funding will enable us to continue our work, providing a safe space for deaf children, young people, and their families to connect and share experiences that they may not otherwise get to have. Attending Lollipop activities creates a sense of belonging and increases the confidence of members, this is the confidence they can then take forward into every aspect of their lives as they grow up.”
