Voices from the Bridge was formed in 2024 and the first performance was at Cawood Church in August 2024, as part of Cawoodstock Festival. The members are all experienced singers who also are mostly members of other choirs in Yorkshire
The concert will include music from the Renaissance by composers such as Palestrina, Byrd and Tallis. There will also be more modern pieces such as 'Locus Iste' by Bruckner, songs from Orlando Gibbons, Arthur Sullivan, Vaughan Williams and a beautiful arrangement of 'A Nightingale Sang'. The unaccompanied music is perfectly suited to St Helen's acoustics.
Stuart Nettleship M.Mus. is the MD of the choir. He is experienced in conducting choirs and orchestras since 1969, working in England, Wales, Scotland and France. He is a well-known composer and arranger. His arrangements feature in the concert plus a performance of his popular Ave Maria.
Nigel Bellamy is a busy teacher of Piano, organ and violin. For this performance, he will be playing organ solos from J.S. Bach and Brahms and singing bass in the choir. He has been the organist of St Helen's Escrick and has worked with Stuart Nettleship for over twenty years.
Tickets are £10 and are available on the door, as well as from Eventbrite.
