Mike Bilton | Changing Landscapes

Experience the evolving vision of local artist Michael Bilton in this profound retrospective. At 85, Bilton continues to redefine his relationship with the Swaledale landscape, a place that has served as both his home and muse for over three decades. Moving away from his academic roots as a degree-level art educator, this exhibition traces his artistic journey from representational scenes to bold abstract interpretations of the rugged hills surrounding Grinton.

Visitors will gain a unique insight into how pivotal life events, including personal loss and the devastating 2019 floods, have shaped his creative output.

To celebrate the exhibition's debut, guests are invited to an open afternoon on 18th March from 2pm to 4pm in the Upper Gallery, where they can meet the artist in person.
