The Easter Vigil is one of the most powerful and symbolic services of the Christian year, moving from darkness into light as the story of salvation unfolds. Through readings and prayer, the service recalls God’s saving acts throughout history, culminating in the proclamation of the Resurrection in the light of the first Easter Day.
Marking the end of the stillness of Holy Saturday, the Vigil leads directly into the celebration of Christ’s resurrection. The Archbishop of York will preside at this service, during which candidates will reaffirm their faith through confirmation.
All are welcome to share in this moving beginning to the joy of Easter.
