On Easter Day, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, three days after his crucifixion. York Minster will be dedicated to prayer and worship throughout the day, and all are welcome — whether to join a service, spend time in reflection, or simply experience the beauty of the cathedral.
Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer) – 8.00am
A simple said service using the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer.
Choral Matins – 10.00am
Following the pattern of Matins from the Book of Common Prayer, with sung psalms, canticles and an anthem.
Festal Eucharist – 11.00am
A joyful celebration of the Resurrection as the congregation proclaims, “Alleluia, Christ is risen!” The Archbishop of York will preach and preside at this service.
Festal Evensong – 4.00pm
The day concludes with a triumphant service of Evensong, bringing this great feast of rejoicing to a close.
