Set at Prince Orlofsky’s lavish New Year’s Eve party, the stage is set for an evening of disguises, deception and revenge. Doctor Falke, once humiliated by his friend Herr Eisenstein and left wandering the streets dressed as a bat, plots his revenge, unleashing a whirlwind of intrigue, laughter and chaos as events spiral into a classic comedy of errors. But will the bat be revenged?

In 2026, York Opera celebrates its 60th anniversary, as well as 40 years since first performing at York Theatre Royal. From Orpheus in the Underworld in 1968 to Turandot in 1986 and their recent success with The Tales of Hoffmann, the company continues to deliver opera of the highest quality.
