Being the opening act for any festival can be pretty daunting, but Newcomers ‘For You The Moon’ had no problem in doing just that at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival. The crowd at the Key Club stage was soon geared up for the day thanks to the band’s contagious energy. You could see from the turnout that they already have a growing fan base.
We sat down for a catch-up with Issac (Vocalist & Song Writer) and Jordan (Guitarist) after their opening set. Backstage in the bustling press tent, we took a breather and chilled on the grass to chat to the guys before they headed off to Hatfield for the second day of the festival. Not conforming to your standard perception of a Rock stars’ lifestyle, the guys had not started on the beers yet and had their heads in the game preparing for their next show.
The band: Issac, Jordan, Tim (Bass), and Mike (Drums) met at the Leeds College of Music, and with a similar love of bands like Deaf Havana and Bring Me The Horizon, it didn’t take long for them to start making music together. By 2019 they released ‘Slip Away,’ and it wasn’t long until they got noticed, although it was a few weeks later until the band realised. Turns out, Slam Dunk Records had been in touch with the guys, but the email had ended up in junk! Luckily a Facebook message got to them and, of course, was not ignored.
“So just after we released our first ever single we had an email from SlamDunk basically seeing if we wanted to chat about being part of their label, but we didnt see it for about 2 weeks because it ended up in spam. So the moral of the story is always check your spam!”
Jordan – For You The Moon
With the pandemic hitting, practicing was pretty much impossible, but fast forward to now, and the band is finding their feet performing live shows. The band is closer than ever, getting to grips with the finer details of performing like guitar swaps and calming each other’s nerves before their set.
Over lockdown we’ve been working on some new singles, but its been difficult as we couldn’t go into a practice room, we’ve mainly been face-timing and sending ideas to each other to try and keep ourselves going. I think it’s worked really well and we’ve managed to get some really good songs out of it which might not have happened otherwise.
Jordan – For You The Moon
With their focus, determination, and talent, ‘For You The Moon’ looks to have a great career ahead of them. We can’t wait to see what they do next. Keep up to date and check out their music here foryouthemoon.com.
