STAR SIGN OF THE MONTH: CAPRICORN 22nd DEC – 19th JAN
In my cynical old age I’m not too keen on that word “romance” but for a want of a better word, this should be a very romantic month for many Capricorns, and even Old Fogies like me should find themselves enjoying a greater quality of warmth and understanding in relationships. A slow start to the year where jobs and careers are concerned, but with the tempo picking up from the 18th or 19th onwards. Perhaps not a bad time for some kind of financial review.
The Year Ahead for Capricorns: The year starts quietly enough but there is a tremendous flurry of activity and tension around about March. This slackens off by mid-summer when there are some major changes to work routines and a noticeable improvement in finances. Travel aspects and family reunions look probable for the late summer or very early autumn.
AQUARIUS 20th Jan – 18th FEB
There is a stubborn streak in some members of the sign which only really comes to the surface when you feel that you are being pushed into a corner. Well, that stubborn streak is strong throughout January, and there are times when you are going to say “no” to people who expect you to say “yes.” If this raises a few eyebrows it is an indication that there are a few eyebrows which need to be raised.
The Year Ahead: A stop and start year where jobs and careers are concerned but you should get to the end of the year being a bit richer than you are right now – so you must be doing something right!
PISCES 19th Feb – 20th Mar
A new year of targets, ambitions and optimism— will emerge. You’ll say to yourself “it doesn’t matter where I’m going as long as I know I’m going somewhere!” If this causes some impulsive behaviour, it’s no bad thing, and if it pushes you into taking a few risks, this is even better! A new friend made between the 20th and 24th sparks some romantic interest, and if there are some interesting invitations around this time, don’t be afraid to say yes.
The Year Ahead: A very potent and propitious year for breaking free from old rules and regulations and breaking free from the ties which bind. Therefore, in many ways 2024 looks like being a lot of fun – although there will be a number of people close to you who won’t see it that way!
ARIES 21st MAR – 19th APR
Rather a strange and moody start to the New Year. You look back over the last few years and assess what you have achieved and balance that against what you would still like to achieve— there seems to be a shortfall. You kick yourself out of this mood by the middle of the month but it is still a reflective period. From the 20th or 21st onwards you suddenly become very busy, which is not a bad thing as it provides a few distractions.
The Year Ahead: A period of de-cluttering or sorting the chaff from the corn. Not so much a case of “in with the new” but definitely a case of “out with the old.” If you’re possessions rich and pennies poor, you reverse this trend and have more cash in your pocket by the end of the summer. You break traditional domestic routines, get out more and travel further. Your mood brightens during the summer but there are some awkward decisions to be made about what goes and what stays.
TAURUS 20th APR – 20th May
A quiet start to 2024 will be preoccupied by some of the necessary and mundane aspects of life. You’ll experience quite a productive period where jobs and careers are concerned, but sometimes it will feel like very hard work. There will be contacts and reunions with at least one old friend mid-month which could lead to the hatching of a money-making scheme, and there is some fresh energy filtering through in connection with any of your artistic ambitions.
The Year Ahead: A tough and turgid year for creative Taureans or anyone involved professionally in the arts, but everyone else seems to do just fine. Good financial outlook, especially from the spring onwards, and the summer is a brilliant period for kicking a few problems into touch which have plagued you for years.
GEMINI 21st May – 20th Jun
Rather a lovely and productive time for all family relationships, and especially for relationships between parents and children. Having said that, parents with grown-up kids will enjoy a new feeling of freedom as their children start fledging the nest and making their own way. There will be a bright period on the social scene, especially mid-month, with some interesting travel opportunities around the 25th, 26th and 27th. Overseas destinations beckon so check your passport is up to date.
The Year Ahead: Increasingly, as the year progresses, you’ll realise that if you want something done properly, you’re going to have to do it yourself. This bodes very well for those with career. Overseas travel in the summer, property for sale in the autumn. Maybe a lot of bureaucracy to be dealt with around October/November.
CANCER 21st JUN – 22nd Jul
January puts a smile on your face as you count your blessings and realise that you are in a much more advantageous position than you might have been this time last year. Now that the Christmas hullabaloo is behind you, you can look forwards with a much clearer vision of the path ahead, feeling quite cheerful and optimistic about your prospects – both emotionally and professionally. While these prospects affect everyone, it is probably older people who will benefit the most.
The Year Ahead: A cosy and comfortable year where domestic routines and established relationships are concerned, but some restlessness and discontent in younger members of the sign (16-30) will come to a head in the spring. House moves for some in the early summer, with DIY or significant home improvements for others.
LEO 23rd jul – 22nd aug
An optimistic opening to 2024 as something you have long wanted and waited for comes within sight and grasp. This could be the relationship with the perfect partner or that all important career promotion…This boosts your confidence and pushes you into taking a few calculated risks that you would have avoided this time last year. Other people are attracted to your bright and positive attitude.
The Year Ahead: The key word for 2024 is “movement”— which is open to a number of interpretations. Movement of home and domicile, movement in career direction, movement in ambitions, but perhaps most importantly, movement in attitude towards emotional relationships… As such, you realise that you can do more with someone by your side than you can when you’re walking alone.
VIRGO 23rd AUG – 22nd SepT
You will be reviewing a number of relationships and while one or two might be relegated to the recycle bin, there are two or three others which you’ll recognise as being the most important. Of those two or three, one is definitely your primary interest. Whatever happens where jobs and careers are concerned, you will be more interested in the emotional side of things – which is rather delightful because it opens the doors to a deeper foundation of commitment.
The Year Ahead: Although this is a busy year where jobs and careers are concerned, you become increasingly aware that there is more to life than just work. As such, your targets and visions for the future undergo a shift in direction, but you’re going to have your work cut-out persuading partners to look at life through your eyes. Do your best and be patient.
LIBRA 23rd SEPT – 22nd OCT
A bright and breezy month with lots of social activity, which in some ways makes up for a pretty dull December. A lot of you will be glad that Christmas is over, giving you time and space to concentrate on other issues – like new job routines kicking in around the 14th or 15th and some new energy in old and stale relationships. On the downside, not a good month for travel, and if you are going anywhere, check small print on tickets and timetables.
The Year Ahead: 2024 is very much a “doing” year… Yes, you think about this, and you think about that, but you actually start doing a few things, maybe things you’ve put off for months and years, and at the end of the day you feel all that much better for it. Your mood will be infectious, and you’ll be pleased at the support and co-operation you get from other people.
SCORPIO 23RD OCT – 21ST NOV
Quite a difficult month for many Scorpios: awkward decisions need to be made, divided loyalties demand that you come down on the fence one side or the other, and for many there is a great temptation to try and turn back the clock – which is not a good idea at all!
The Year Ahead: On one level quite a sexy year for many members of the sign, but on another, you’ll be very aware of past mistakes and will keep those in mind when venturing into new relationships. Some very high highs in the spring and the summer, a few lows in the autumn, but spirits lift again during the last two months of the year… Which will be a time for putting your past behind you and taking a few risks with your future.
SAGITTARIUS 22nd nov – 21st deC
Perhaps a low-key start to the New Year with some feelings of postfestive anti-climax. But it’s more than that… Women of the sign in particular will be doing a lot of self-examination, sorting out priorities, and looking back over their shoulders at times gone by. This is not just a case of nostalgia, but rather looking backwards to find the answers which can take you forwards.
The Year Ahead: The challenge this year is to see things as they are and not as you would like them to be… But having said that, there is an element of change working through 2024 but it is slow and gentle, and half the time you won’t even know it is happening. You’re not going to get rich or star in a Hollywood movie, but incrementally you do find a bit more happiness and contentment, and you need to be aware of the fact that it isn’t just you who is going through this process.
