Star sign of the month – CAPRICORN
A very bright and busy (and rather expensive) start to the New Year, but it is at this time that some important lifelong memories will be made. Furthermore, while you might not be looking for the limelight, there are times when you will very much be the centre of attention. A steady period work-wise with a huge amount of extra activity during the last week. There’s some need for financial restraint during the latter half of the month.
The year ahead: A very bright and busy start to the year with some very special celebrations which generate life-long memories. You can look forward to several important reunions, and on more than one occasion you will be the centre of attraction. Once into February and March, you’ll come under some degree of pressure at work which will necessitate taking on new responsibilities: this in turn will lead to a very busy summer, and you are going to have to measure your energy levels. Yes, you’ll appreciate the extra money you’re earning, but the older you get the more you come to realise that money isn’t everything.
AQUARIUS
Very much a family-orientated month with more than one reunion and get-together. The social aspect is very bright, but too many nights out will affect your pocket. Some Aquarians are likely to be a bit accident-prone during the last seven or ten days, so don’t take any silly risks. Not the time to take up parachute jumping and if you’re driving home after a good night out, make sure you’ve got a car.
The year ahead: A very different year to many you have lived through over the years. There seems to be more free time and a more relaxed attitude toward just about everything. Travel aspects look “interesting” and I suspect that there will be more than one important journey in the months ahead – and I don’t just mean a day trip to the seaside. Finances are okay, but there will be times when you have to pay some extra attention to budgeting throughout the year. Romantic relationships might be a bit thin on the ground, but a greater depth of meaning will be found in established unions.
PISCES
The Christmas spirit seems to carry on over into the New Year, and although there may be a few challenges, you’ll be inclined to see them as exciting opportunities. The 19th or 20th of the month could be important red letter days when you get some very good news which secures your future. A hint of romance in the air for some, while just an improvement in the sex life of others.
The year ahead: Regardless of sex and age, I think that 2023 will be a seminal year for relationships. Stale old unions are broken free from, new unions are established, and with this process there comes a newfound sense of self-confidence and greater clarity of vision concerning where you’ve been, where you are, and where you are going from here. March seems to be a pivotal month for this, and I suspect that whatever happens in March will shape the pattern of your life for the rest of the year – and maybe even beyond!
ARIES
Even though Christmas is over and done with for another year, there is a flurry of activity in early January which speaks of an even greater element of celebrations and parties. Also, there are some noisy reunions – and some quiet and very private conversations! The second half of the month brings a slight feeling of anti-climax, but then, you might be glad of the rest!
The year ahead: After a busy start to the New Year, especially on the social scene, things quieten down throughout February and March until April, when there is another boost of energy. Could be a good time for taking on new jobs and work projects. This could be quite a romantic summer for many (regardless of age) but with a few challenges creeping in around the autumn which will demand some major decisions. Some financial restraint is required throughout the year, so if you’re buying a car make sure it’s a Mini and not a Maserati.
TAURUS
January gets off to a sparkling start, and indeed the beginning of the New Year may bring much more excitement than the Christmas period. It is also a period of high expenditure, which should not be a problem because it will be something that you have already budgeted for. Two reunions during the month… one which goes very well, and one which does not! Some new work projects creeping in around the 19th and 20th which will be profitable.
The year ahead: This looks like a successful year for the majority of Taureans, with several gains made across the board. Health issues and finances may dominate your thinking during the first two or three months but with the advent of the spring, there is a burst of new energy which propels you into what will be a busy and profitable summer. Good travel aspects in the late summer and autumn, which will also be a good period for making new friends and business contacts. Artistic Taureans can look forward to a very creative year.
GEMINI
Some tension during the first week or two, inevitably caused by misunderstandings born of little white lies. This situation eases quickly enough, but there are one or two friendships or collegiate associations which will come under review as a result. There are positive family vibes, especially in connection with younger people around you, and an unexpected boost to financial confidence during the last week.
The year ahead: In general terms 2023 should be a calm and tranquil year, which should suit most of you but frustrate the hell out of many who are looking for action and adventure. There will be some changes to job priorities and career pathways around the spring and it may take half of the summer to settle into new work routines and responsibilities. With the advent of autumn, there is likely to be an elevated sense of excitement in all affairs of the heart and that will be the time for commitments, promises, and possibly engagements and weddings.
CANCER
A bright and optimistic start to the New Year, with some fresh energy and one or two new money-making ideas. Who you know is as important as what you can do, so brush up on your networking skills! Towards the middle of the month, there may be some problem with a younger member of the family, but as you can’t change this situation, you need to learn how to accept it.
The year ahead: An important year for redefining targets and loyalties and for reassessing the value of certain relationships. Parents of younger children may find themselves having to do battle with their kids and there will be times (especially during the summer) when family relationships may become a bit strained. It’ll be a good year financially, but with several frustrations caused by things not happening as quickly as you might like, or expect.
LEO
Perhaps a low-key first week, especially if you’re nursing a sore head from the holiday festivities, but by the 6th or 7th this should have passed and you’ll find yourself getting to grips with New Year work routines – which may be easier said than done if you still feel like playing rather than working. Unfortunately, there are a couple of people around you who share the same attitude, so maybe not a lot gets done after all.
The year ahead: Potentially a tense beginning to the year when you find yourself having to fight for a greater degree of freedom and independence from people who would restrict you and try and hold you back. You achieve this by the spring, but only at the cost of some alienation in family circles and the loss of at least one fair-weather friendship. And yet 2023 is a brilliant year for finding a greater degree of inner knowledge and self-confidence, and by the time you get to December, you won’t quite be the same person that you were back in January.
VIRGO
Social aspects are very bright during the first week, but things may become a bit gloomy during the second. Things buck up around the 14th or 15th when you’ll find yourself having to come to grips with a few new challenges on the job scene, but this is no bad thing if it gets you motivated. The idea of mid-winter holidays becomes increasingly attractive!
The year ahead: All in all, this should be a pretty good year for Virgos, not so much because of what happens, but more because of things that don’t happen. Finances improve across the board, but work routines and pressures might vary. Romantic and emotional relationships are steady as a rock, and any fears you might have had in this respect are removed by degree as the year progresses. Travel aspects are strong, both in respect of commuting in connection with careers and business, but also in the sense of holidays and vacations. Wherever you go, please bring me back the T-shirt.
LIBRA
Perhaps a slow and quiet start to the New Year, but with things picking up around the 9th and 10th when you are presented with some new job opportunity which coincides with meeting some interesting people and making a couple of new friends. Overall, finances are okay, but financial optimism constantly improving. Romance-wise, there will be some fluttering heartstrings!
The year ahead: Quite a tense and exciting year in affairs of the heart. Younger people experience love for the first time while older members of the sign find greater depths of meaning and unity within existing unions. It should be a good year for younger people on the first rungs of the career ladder, and at the other end of the spectrum, older folk will be contemplating retirement (and in some cases early retirement). Finances may need to be juggled from time to time, but there do not appear to be any major financial catastrophes.
SCORPIO
A thoughtful, and maybe even grumpy start to the New Year. Being realistic you recognise that things could be worse, but part of you also is aware of the fact that they could be a lot better and you’ll be working out how to get to where you want to be. Unfortunately, you are confronted with the familiar problem of having to break a few eggs if you want to make an omelette.
The year ahead: In many ways, 2023 will see you dealing with an ongoing struggle to gain independence from, but also respect from other people, who insist on measuring you by their standards and rules. You’ll finally get your message across, and you will achieve your goals, but not without a few tantrums and tears. Some movement in the mid-late summer in connection with the property, and while younger folk may be applying for mortgages for the first time, even older members of the sign will be weighing up the pros and cons of a change of address.
SAGITTARIUS
January starts on a high note with lots going on – parties, celebrations, reunions, etc. – as the month progresses and things quieten down a bit, you’re left with a feeling of anti-climax. Suddenly there doesn’t seem to be anything to look forward to… so you must FIND something to focus on. If you look (and maybe just a bit laterally) you’ll find it more easily than you might think.
The year ahead: This looks like a very different year to many that you have known. On the one hand, you may find yourself having to be a little bit more careful with your money, but on the other, there seems to be a lot more time available for leisure and pleasure pursuits. Extending your social circle seems inevitable combined with a strengthening of all family ties, but against this other things have got to go such as unnecessary commitments to other people who might appreciate what you do, but are backward in coming forwards when it comes to saying thank you.
