Summer is here! But before you can invite your friends and family round for a garden party or barbecue, you need to get that backyard looking shipshape! Here’s our top tips.
Sort out your beds!
Time’s up for those springtime favourites, get ready to lift and divide any clumps of snowdrops or bluebells as soon as their leaves start to turn yellow. So you can make space for the summer bloomers
Keep an eye out for climbers
As new shoots amongst plants like honeysuckle and clematis begin to grow, use soft ties to train the climbing plants to develop alongside their supports.
Pick those potatoes
Every barbecue needs a potato salad to go along with it! Continue to earth up potato plants as they grow.
Don’t neglect your lawn
Lawncare in the summer is all about balance, whilst you need to water your lawn during hot weather to stop it from drying out, you also need to ensure it doesn’t get too hot either, because warmer weather encourages rapid weed growth. Best practice is to keep it watered and apply some weed killer.
