A cutting-edge local eatery and bar, serving a diverse range of dishes and small plates, has announced a new menu made up of fresh, locally sourced, and foraged ingredients.
Located on Litle Stonegate, Forage Bar & Kitchen is bringing several delicious dishes to their April repertoire, including a coffee-rubbed pork chop with used coffee grounds and local wild garlic kimchi; roasted artichoke hummus, with artichoke crisps and flatbread; and onglet steak tacos with fermented pickled chilli. The menu will also include Yorkshire pecorino-stuffed flatbread with a wild garlic butter zaatar; forage-fried chicken with a smoked chilli mayo; and a charred oyster mushroom skewer, with a tamari and agave dressing and walnut ketchup.
Keen to waste less, many of the locally-sourced fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients, such as coffee grounds are all carefully crafted into various foodie delights from flavour rubs and dressings, marmalades and vinaigrettes, to pickled snacks and crisps.
Using the same care, detail, and passion in the cocktails, as with the food, the restaurant is also host to a hidden upstairs speakeasy with an extensive cocktail menu of over 100 cocktails to choose from.
Restaurant owner and local mixologist, Callum Houston said: “Our aim is to showcase exciting, distinctive dishes which are fresh and local while trying to reduce food waste.
He continued: “We love sourcing our menu close to home using wild ingredients and quality Yorkshire produce, inventing cuisine that is constantly changing, so you can return to dine with us and enjoy new, inspiring food to share amongst friends.”
With a seating capacity of 90, Forage Bar & Kitchen is a spacious venue, offering dishes from £4 to £28.
