Flowers to plant in February

Itching to get back in the garden? There are plenty of seeds to be sown.

Sweet Peas

Sow sweet pea seeds in cardboard tubes or biodegradable pots in a cold frame, a cool room in the house or an unheated greenhouse.

When ready to plant, keep them in their containers to keep root disturbance to a minimum.

Cosmos

These seeds need sowing in a compost tray on top of peat-free seed compost. Place them in a sunny windowsill then take them out when they’re large enough to handle.

Lilies

Lily bulbs can be planted from October to April. Asiatic lilies are smaller than oriental ones but are hardy and easier to grow. They can be planted in the garden or in pots of peat-free multi-purpose compost.
