Swapping New York City, for our York, the author and creator of Sex and the City and real life Carrie Bradshaw, Candance Bushnell, has today announced she will be bringing her one-woman show to town.
It will be in York for just one night at the Grand Opera House in March 2025.
Sex and the City fans are advised to act fast as tickets for the show titled “True Tales of Sex, Success, and Sex and the City” go on sale at 10am THIS FRIDAY (the 1st of November).
Candace Bushnell created a cultural phenomenon in Sex and the City that shaped the way generations of women viewed friendships, fashion, careers, independence, relationships and sex.
Based on the lives of Candace and her inner circle, Sex and the City started as a column in The New York Observer in 1994. It was turned into a best-selling book, and became a global success as one of the most influential TV shows to ever grace the screen.
During the show at Grand Opera House York on Tuesday the 11th of March 2025, Candace will bring the real stories that inspired the groundbreaking TV series.
In their review The Guardian described the show as full of “plenty of spit-out-your-wine moments and empowering life lessons.” It is sure to be the ultimate girls night out.
Audiences will get to hear first-hand accounts of the people and situations that inspired Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha.
Delivered in a way that only she can, Candace details moving to New York aged 18 at a time when women weren’t allowed credit cards, to becoming a sex columnist, creating an Emmy award winning TV series and several New York Times best-selling books.
She’ll share the loves, laughs, highs and lows, and empowering life lessons that she’s learned along the way, like the importance of becoming your own Mr. Big — all while sipping on cosmopolitans and wearing her signature Manolos.
