With September on the horizon and Autumn well on its way, many of us are dreading the shorter days and darker evenings. Fortunately, the North York Moors Railway have the perfect solution, their latest event — the Light Spectacular will have you actually looking forward to the arrival of October and November. Those darker evenings are the only way to fully immerse yourself in the thrills of an illuminated train adventure.
The hugely popular light spectacular is an hour-long interactive journey between Pickering and Levisham station, fit with enough entertainment for all the family —whether you’re train enthusiasts, steam supporters or simply music lovers. This is more than a train trip, the real highlight is the onboard entertainment; spearheaded by the NYMR’s compere, Voice Over Man. He will be present to set the party mood with a DJ-party mix that is sure to have you dancing in your seats. When passengers arrive, they are given a flashing wristband which synchronises with the on-board lightshow and music while the train itself is adorned with 17,000 LEDs lights — no matter how dark it is outside this steam engine is guaranteed to brighten up your October half term.
Luke Hudman, the Marketing Manager at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, is encouraging anyone interested to get tickets as soon as they can, they’re sure to to sell out soon.
He explains: “It’s a fantastic event that has the wow factor and just makes everyone gasp and smile from the moment you see the train arrive at the platform — even the grown-ups! It’s so impressive and seeing the faces of families light up is a highlight in our events calendar each year. It’s a great way to end our main running season and we’ve already had many asking about tickets, so I recommend you book yours early!”
The train service departs from Pickering Station every evening from 27th October to 5th November and 10th to 12th November 2023 at 6pm and 7:45pm. Tickets for the must-see (and hear) experience are £25 per person.
The NYMR are continuing to deliver exciting events for the rest of the year, with the Steam Gala in September and the Santa Specials event in December, make sure to keep posted on all event updates at www.nymr.co.uk.
