What’s not to love about the theatre? It’s an art form that’s existed since the Ancient Greeks (around 550 and 220 BC), and continues to thrive today. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of feeling the performers’ energy as they bound across the stage, and the magic of the entire production experience that transports you for just a few hours to a completely different world.
That’s what we think, anyway. So we’re celebrating March 27th – World Theatre Day – with a bumper theatre edition of Your Local Link. Even though here in the UK, we don’t actually take part in World Theatre Day. But we’ll ignore that bit.
And if you’re a theatre lover living in York (which we imagine you might be), you can thank your lucky stars. Because our humble city is blessed with talent – and if you see an amateur show here, in many cases, it’s like being in the West End.
This spring, many of the top theatre companies in York will be hitting the stages with several of their big shows for 2019 – and you won’t want to miss them. In fact, we featured them on the front cover of Your Local Link. And we’re gonna tell you a bit more about them.
So, keep your eyes peeled as we lure you in to the seats of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, the Grand Opera House, and the John Cooper Studio @41 Monkgate.
