Attendees will be transported back in time, to the splendour of York’s eighteenth-century high society, at Lord Burlington’s party-hotspot from the 1730s. Anyone wanting to attend is recommended to book tickets now. The event is sure to sell-out well ahead of time.
The boutique events company are hosting the ball at the Assembly Rooms on Blake Street.
There will be three courses of delectable food, a variety of wines and music from an 18-piece orchestra that will keep guests more than entertained throughout the night. The first course features a deluxe toasted pagnotta offering that is complimented with marinated tomatoes, no’duja (vegan n’duja sausage), fresh basil and — true to The Assembly Rooms’ glamorous aristocratic legacy— the dish is garnished with 24K Gold!
That’s to be followed by a choice of pork belly, seabass, mushroom risotto or lentil ragu. Then to finish you can choose between a ‘Chocolate Etna’ (a chocolate dome, coated with hot toffee sauce), a cheesecake or an orange and chocolate tart.
As you walk, dine and dance under the magical chandeliers and the iconic marble pillars you’ll experience life as a real Bridgerton or Downton Abbey character for one special night. The Assembly Rooms boast a diverse array of rooms — accommodation has been made for quiet conversation in the side rooms around the great hall. One of the rooms has even been fitted with an indoor-lawn so guests can play crochet!
After you’ve appreciated the splendour of the venue’s magnificent Georgian interior design, the next best benefit of celebrating the occasion at York Assembly Rooms is its central location — Blake Street is a two minute walk from York Minster, where the rest of York’s community (those not lucky enough to be attending the ball) will be excitedly counting down the seconds until midnight. Attendees will be able to simply step outside to watch Great Peter strike twelve whilst soaking up an electric atmosphere — without having had to stand out in the cold all night long.
If you do still elect to stay in the warmth for midnight, the band and piper will see you into the New Year with a special rendition of ‘auld lang syne’.
