Castle Howard launches family fun day

Castle Howard, one of Yorkshire’s most-loved tourist attractions, is celebrating its history with a new event.

The event will be based on all things Castle Howard to recognise the date that the attraction was opened for the first time to the general public. Howard Day will be taking place on the 31st of July and will be hosted at Castle Howard itself. The event will feature a hot air balloon display, family games, a tug of war contest, craft activities and dressing up.

The event will also see the launch of a new initiative being penned as ‘Capturing the Castle’, a crowd-sourced photo exhibition project.

“This exhibit will feature photos and memorabilia donated by the public as part of our first Crowd Sourced project,” says Curator Dr Christopher Ridgway. “The aim is to compile a library of material from the past and present, revealing favourite views, memories, unusual sights and pictures that celebrate not only the place, but the people who visit and work here – they are what make Castle Howard so special.”

Castle Howard has announced that Howard Day will also mark the official release of Christmas admission tickets.

The house and gardens will be open daily until 4th November from 10am – 5pm for more information about Howard Day, or on how to get involved, visit www.castlehoward.co.uk.
