An Egg-cellent guide to York’s Easter Events

With the Easter holidays already in full swing, and less than two weeks to go until the bumper bank holiday weekend: there are plenty of Easter events already kicking off in York, and dozens more on the horizon.

The Web Adventure Park 

The Web Adventure Park on Wiggington Road is already running Easter crafts, competitions and space hopper races alongside the usual egg trails and bunny visits as part of their Easter holiday offering. Click here for more information.

Mother Shipton’s Cave

Take a trip out to Mother Shipton’s Cave, Knaresborough, for a Hoppy Easter Adventure, where kids can meet bunnies Betty and Clover and solve puzzles to win a chocolatey treat. Click here for more information.

Burton Agnes Hall 

Burton Agnes Hall is taking children on an exciting trail around the Hall’s grounds. There are clues to be solved and a giant golden egg to be found. On Easter weekend the fun ramps up with the official Easter Egg Hunt. Click here for more information.

York’s Chocolate Story 

Coming in heavy with the Easter offerings: York’s Chocolate Story has got luxury easter egg decorating masterclasses with professional chocolatiers running from 13th-21st April and The Easter Bunny’s Chocolate Egg Hunt, which starts outside the attraction in King’s Square before taking kids on an adventure to the Merchant Adventurers Hall, from the 15th-22nd April. The Yorkshire Museum of Farming 

Enjoy Easter with a rural twist: The Yorkshire Museum of Farming and Murton Park re-open this weekend in time for Easter, complete with an Easter Egg Hunt. Click here for more information.

Treasurer’s House 

Fun fact: many of the National Trust venues have teamed up with top chocolate bod, Cadbury, at Easter to put on amazing egg hunts. Head to Treasurer’s House for flowers, animals, mythical creatures and Cadbury chocolate, all wrapped up into one fabulous hunt. There will be the chance to make your own bunny ears, too. Castle Howard 

The Castle Howard Bunnies have lost their eggs around the grounds and needs everyone’s help to find them. As well as the trail, kids can enjoy the adventure playground, boat trips and Ice cream. Ok, cool. See you there. Click here for more information.

St Nicks Environment Centre | 13th April only

Plant wildflowers in the nature reserve and make eco-crafts at St Nicks special egg hunt. There are prizes for all the kids taking part, and though the event is free, it’s recommended you take a little bit of money for refreshments and extra craft materials. Click here for more information.

Huntington Methodist Church | 13th April only 

Head on down to Huntington Methodist Church for their Easter Fair. There will be plenty of stalls including cakes, crafts, books and bric-a-brac. 10am-1.30pm.

Easter Bank Holiday weekend 
(19th April until 22nd April)

Goddards House 

Learn all about York’s great chocolate families alongside a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Goddards House – the home of chocolate. Click here for more information.

Castle Howard 

A good old-fashioned children’s fun fair including a train ride, helter skelter, children’s carousel and chair ‘o’ planes and a giant Easter egg hunt to win prizes. Click here for more information.

Rufforth Institute | 21st April 

Pop down and find over 30 giant Easter eggs! Guess the weight of the cake, have a go on the raffle or tombola, and get involved in face painting and hair braiding. From 11am-3pm. 

Wigginton Car Boot | 21st April 

Not *technically* Easter related but still important. Wiggy Car Boot returns on Sunday 21st April from 6am. Good. Cars are £8, Vans £9 and public admission is just £1! Address: Home Farm, Wigginton, Corban Lane, YO32 2RD. 

Newby Hall and Gardens 

Newby Hall and Gardens is putting on an Alice In Wonderland themed woodland trail. Meet the Mad Hatter and friends and solve clues as you go, chocolate included. Click here for more information.

Get crafty and take part in Scampston Hall’s egg rolling and painting in the Walled Garden. Click here for more information.

Sandburn Hall | 22nd April
