If you think of your average gym class, we imagine you might picture dumbbells and a belter Olivia Newton-John music video. Whilst the benefits of a fun fitness class is pretty rewarding, what if there was a way to combine the rewards of fitness with the rewarding nature of voluntary action? Well, there is. If you enjoy the social aspect of fitness and want to get out and about, giving a helping hand within the community, you may want to check out GoodGym.
GoodGym is an initiative that originated down south in 2008 and has since spread nationwide. The project is made up of a group of local residents who run, walk, or cycle together to participate in local community projects across York, such as helping with DIY house jobs for the elderly or shovelling compost for a local community group. Every session is different!
