In our last issue, we published a selection of poems for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, penned by prominent local poet Rose Drew. As co-founder of the Stairwell Books small press, host of the York Spoken Word poetry group, and longtime Your Local Link poetry contributor, Rose is a well-known figure in our local literary landscape. Her latest collection, FrankenTit, out now courtesy of Carcazan Publishing, focuses on Rose’s personal experience of living with breast cancer, all the way from an unexpected diagnosis (unfortunately received on her birthday), to her subsequent recovery.
This heartrending, hilarious collection offers a map for resilience and self-love, and a defiant, optimistic stance against cancer that’s sure to empower others living with the disease, whatever stage of the cancer journey they’re facing.
Our readers are invited to celebrate the launch of FrankenTit with Rose at The Golden Ball (YO1 6DU) on 12 November – doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start.
