While the city of York is famed for its plethora of pubs (of course, it’s said that there is at least one watering hole for every day of the year), locals, visitors, and Your Local Link staff alike are at odds to decide exactly which York boozer is the very best.
York CAMRA, always a reliable barometer, has now announced its picks of pubs for 2026.High Petergate staple The Three Legged Mare, known by many a Yorkie as ‘the wonky donkey’, scooped the prize for ‘Cider Pub of the Year’, regaining its status previously earned in 2024, and knocking Clementhorpe’s the Slip Inn off the top spot from last year. Stillington’s The White Bear Inn was named ‘Town and Country Pub of the Year’, while York Sports Club on Shipton Road was awarded the accolade of ‘Club of the Year’.
The coveted ‘City Pub of the Year’ award was rightly earned by The Last Drop Inn on Colliergate – York CAMRA is set to present the City Pub of the Year award at The Last Drop Inn on 5 June, so why not pop in for a drop, to show your support?
