Renewed interest in American composer Julius Eastman since his death in 1990 has brought his distinctive musical voice and collaborative approach to wider global attention. At the heart of this programme, The Chimera Ensemble performs his 1974 work Femenine, which evolves from a simple two-note oscillation into a rich and expansive sonic landscape shaped by its performers.
The programme is complemented by new works from student composers, creating a compelling blend of contemporary creativity and influential modern composition.
