One of the longest-standing York amateur drama groups (The Stockton Forresters) is to stage Alan Ayckbourn’s “Time of My Life” from 15-17th May at the village hall in Stockton on the Forest.
Following a very successful run of a triple bill of three short one act plays in November, the group is looking forward to producing a full, two act drama. “Time of My Life” depicts Ayckbourn’s usual trials and tribulations of complicated family life as the Stratton family gather to celebrate mother Laura’s birthday. Set in the time when Britain was in the grip of recession, the family business is struggling, and relationships are all under pressure. Moving between several different time periods, the three couples show us their successful and failing relationships, with family always at the core.
Many of the cast are familiar faces, but the Stockton Foresters are delighted to be introducing a couple of new recruits to the onstage team. Company chair, Karen Ilsley says, “We held an open evening earlier in the year and we were delighted with the response. Two new actors have joined us and we’ve also got some incredibly talented new backstage crew.” The group welcomes anyone interested in joining, whether on stage, front of house or backstage throughout the year and newest recruits have joined to help out with costume, photography, publicity and the bar.
